Social media has become the center of our lives. Although this is not a new situation, nowadays, especially with the new restrictions, we have withdrawn more and more into our own worlds and the way we communicate with social media has become a necessity for us like bread and water.
Of course, I always emphasize how important it is to stay in touch and keep our social ties strong, especially in this process. However, the issue I want to draw attention to is the damage we unwittingly cause to our environment through the posts we make on social media, where each of us spend hours.
Have you ever thought that with the posts we make to remind each other of social distancing and to ensure that our loved ones stay at home, we may actually be unknowingly injuring the souls of our loved ones and followers?
When we say "please stay home" to our loved ones on social media, especially by sharing details about cases that have resulted in death, traumatizing information and photographs about funeral and burial procedures, dark scenarios about our future obtained from non-scientific sources, details that have become urban legends but have nothing to do with reality, information that your grocer, greengrocer or even your neighborhood neighbor has contracted the disease, which is not heard from any authority but spreads just as rapidly...
Do we ever think?
Do we ever think that with these posts, our children may face Covid-19, who need hope and morale and are struggling?
