Op. Dr. Hüseyin KORUCU - Benign prostate enlargement

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition in men as they age and is not associated with cancer. The prostate is a gland located below the bladder and surrounding the urethra. BPH is characterized by the enlargement of the prostate, which can make urination difficult and lead to urinary tract symptoms. Symptoms include frequent urination, nocturia (nighttime urination), weak urine stream, and a feeling of incomplete emptying. Diagnosis is made through physical examination, urine tests, blood tests, and sometimes ultrasound. Treatment options vary based on the severity of symptoms and can include lifestyle changes, medications, and surgical procedures. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can reduce the discomfort caused by BPH and improve quality of life.
