What is Diabetes?
 
Diabetes is an important disease characterized by an increase in the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood and can lead to serious complications if not treated properly. There are mainly 2 types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs mostly in young people and is treated with insulin alone. Type 2 diabetes, or adult-onset diabetes, is a form of diabetes that is associated with obesity and usually occurs at an older age.
 
The prevalence of diabetes in the world is increasing rapidly. According to data from the World Diabetes Federation, there are approximately 190 million people with diabetes today. In our country, approximately one in every ten people has diabetes. 80% of people with type 2 diabetes are obese and usually over the age of 40. The risk of developing diabetes is high in people whose parents or siblings have diabetes. However, not only heredity but also environmental factors play a major role in the development of the disease. Sedentary life and obesity are two important factors that pull the trigger in the development of diabetes. Weight gain and a life without exercise lead to obesity and insulin resistance, facilitating the development of diabetes.
 
 
 
What are the Symptoms of Diabetes?
 
Drinking a lot of water, urinating frequently, urinating at night, eating a lot of food and weight loss, weakness, fatigue and blurred vision are the symptoms of diabetes. However, type 2 diabetes is often an insidious disease and its symptoms may not be recognized for many years. At least half of people with diabetes
